Recovery File

1.	Your mSuite installation contains unique data that has been generated by the installation process. Provided you make a security copy of this information and regularly back-up your configuration database, you will be able to restore your system should it be necessary.

2.	Right mouse click on the node that is immediately underneath mSuite Administration Console in the navigation tree. Select All Tasks > Generate mCenter Recovery File from the pop-up menu.

3.	Enter and confirm a password that will be used to protect the information that will be saved. You must remember this password as you will need it if you restore the recovery file. Click OK to continue.

4.	You will now be asked to choose a file name and a location to save the recovery file to. Once you are happy with the location, click OK to continue.

5.	A message box will be displayed to inform you that the recovery file has been saved.

Backing up the self generated certificate

During installation, a self signed security certificate was created. You need to make a security copy of this certificate. If you lose the mSuite server or want to add another mSuite server for resilience, you will need to re-install this certificate.

You need to run the Certificate snap-in for Local Machine in the MMC. Follow this process:

1.	On the File menu of an open MMC 3.0 console, click Add or Remove Snap-ins.

2.	Highlight Certificates (the snap-in you want to add) in the Available Standalone Snap-ins list, and click Add to add the snap-in to the Selected snap-ins list.

3.	Choose Computer Account and click Next then Local computer and Finish.

4.	You can change the order of snap-ins in the snap-in console by clicking a snap-in in the Selected snap-ins list and then clicking Move Up or Move Down.

5.	If you want to add the new snap-in to a node of the open console other than Console Root, see the following procedure "To set the parent node for a snap-in" in this topic.

6.	Remove a snap-in by clicking it in the Selected snap-ins list and then clicking Remove.

7.	When you are finished adding or removing snap-ins, click OK.

8.	The MMC now displays the Certificates (Local Computer) snap-in.

9.	Expand the Personal node in the navigation tree. Now select Certificates. The action pane displays the installed certificates.

10.	In the action pane, right mouse click the certificate with the name mSuite5 CA and select All Tasks > Export... from the pop-up menu.

11.	Click Next on the Welcome page of the wizard.

12.	Select Yes, export the private key on the Export Private Key page, click Next to continue.

13.	On the Export File Format page, select Personal Information Exchange - PKCS #12 (.PFX), check Include all certificates in the certification path if possible, check Enable strong protection then click Next to continue.

14.	On the Password page, enter and confirm the password that will be used to protect this certificate. You will need this if you re-import the certificate. Click Next to continue.

15.	On the File to Export page, choose the path and filename for the certificate to be saved to. Press Next to continue.

16.	The completion page will be displayed, press Finish to complete the process.

Backing up the SQL database

The SQL database should be backed up regularly. If it is on the same machine as the mSuite server software and you need to rebuild the mSuite server (e.g. for the purposes of disaster recovery or server migration), you will need to restore the mSuite SQL database so make sure you have a recent backup.

Configuration server

You will also need a copy of the mSuite configuration server program - the file cdzConfigSvc.exe which you will find in the mSuite program folder.

Keep them safe!

You should now have:

1.	An mSuite Recovery File (.mrf) together with its associated password.

2.	A copy of the certificate (.pfx) together with its associated password

3.	A backup of the SQL database

4.	A copy of cdzConfigSvc.exe

You will need all of these to rebuild your mSuite server in the event of disaster recovery or if you want to move it to another machine.
